WAREHOUSEMAN


EmployIndy has partnered with a global market leader in full-line chemical distribution. Linking chemical manufacturers and chemical users, they provide business-to-business distribution solutions for industrial and specialty chemicals globally.


SCOPE:
This position serves as critical support to all areas and/or functions of this branch, and ensures the continuing development of Customer Service Excellence.


2ND SHIFT:
4:00 pm- 12:30 am, average of 2 hours of OT every other day


QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 3 years of Forklift experience (Sit-down & Stand-up).
• Ability to maintain a good safety and attendance record.
• Thorough understanding of the importance of customer service and the ability to work cooperatively with other branches, departments, and personnel in meeting customer needs.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Ability to understand and comply with all company policies and procedures pertinent to the Warehouse Department.
• Ability to understand and comply with the responsibilities of the job as outlined in the Job description.
• Ability to understand and carry out process descriptions applicable to the job.
• Willingness to accept overtime (both scheduled and impromptu), to be subject to and available for call-in, and to work other shifts as needed to meet customer needs.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Loads, unloads and moves materials within or near plant, yard or work site.
• Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
• Loads and unloads material onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand. Loads/unloads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools.
• Conveys materials to or from storage to designated area, using hand truck, forklift or yard truck.
• May count, weigh and record the number of units of materials moved or handled on a daily production sheet. Weighs material and marks, stencils, or tags information on cases, bales or other containers.
• Removes samples of materials, labels with identifying information, and takes samples to laboratory for analysis.
• Lifts heavy objects by hand or using power hoist and cleans work area, machines, and equipment. Operates industrial truck to assist in the loading and moving of materials and products.
• Responsible for identifying, segregating, and logging non-conforming materials received into stock.
• Maintains assigned production area and assures that it is operated within operating procedures.
