Maintenance Operator


EmployIndy has partnered with a global market leader in full-line chemical distribution. Linking chemical manufacturers and chemical users, they provide business-to-business distribution solutions for industrial and specialty chemicals globally.


SCOPE:
This position serves as a critical support to all areas and/or functions of this branch.


1st SHIFT:
Must be flexible to begin between 4:00 am – 6:00 am, Monday – Thursday, 10 hour shifts with mandatory overtime on Friday & Saturday if necessary.


QUALIFICATIONS:
• 2-3 years of mechanical equipment and machinery experience strongly preferred.
• Boom & Scissor Lifts experience a plus.
• Knowledge of forklift operation with certification preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalency.
• A good safety and attendance record.
• Thorough understanding of the importance of customer service and the ability to work cooperatively with other departments and personnel in meeting customer needs.
• Good mechanical aptitude and demonstrated mechanical skill.
• Ability to understand and comply with all company policies and procedures pertinent to the Maintenance Department.
• Ability to understand and carry out Maintenance Department process descriptions applicable to the job.
• Willingness to accept overtime (both scheduled and impromptu), to be subject to and available for call-in, and to work other shifts as needed to meet customer needs.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Repair and maintenance to buildings, machinery, and electrical equipment.
• Inspect, repair, and maintain functional parts of mechanical equipment and machinery, such as pumps, compressors, etc., using hoist, hand-tools, gauges, drills, pipe threaders, welders, grinding wheels, and testing devices.
• Inspect defective equipment and diagnosis malfunction using motor analyzers, pressure gauges and factory manuals.
• Disassemble and overhaul pumps and pump power unit.
• Perform plumbing, carpentry, welding and painting functions.
• Has responsibility for purchasing materials for preventative maintenance and repair of plant equipment.
• Participates with contractors on special projects.
• Overall responsibility for area housekeeping.
• May be designated to assume duties of Maintenance Supervisor during his absence.


NOTE:
The responsibilities are not all inclusive. Position will be called upon to perform functions that are deemed necessary by management and in conjunction with the general function of the position.
