QA Tech

EmployIndy has partnered with a metal fabrication company located on the Northeast side of Indianapolis and currently seeking a Quality Insurance Tech.

This individual will provide shop floor product inspection support for the manufacturing plant. The incumbent will assist in ensuring that customer requirements are met through inspection of parts and processes at the point of manufacture. This individual must have strong technical expertise in product inspection and measurement techniques and be well versed in blueprint reading and interpreting product acceptance criteria. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, apply good judgment in pressure situations, and interact well with fellow employees.

• Learn, apply and promote the Vision, Mission, and Values of O'Neal Steel.
• Verify conformance of products and/or processes using appropriate measuring/inspection instruments including fixed and variable gages.
• Verify job set-up accuracy prior to production operations to ensure product conformity.
• Use applicable work orders, drawings, or similar acceptance criteria to determine final product conformance with applicable customer requirements and company workmanship standards.
• Perform dock audits of finished goods as directed to determine outgoing quality level of products relative to required dimensional, cosmetic, packaging, and labeling criteria.
• Perform first article inspection of products and support company Pilot Part Acceptance Program (PPAP) activities, as directed.
• Perform calibration of basic measuring tools and maintain calibration database.
• Inspect customer returned material to verify product non-conformance and support the root cause/corrective action investigation.
• Assist in company lean manufacturing and continual improvement initiatives, as required.
• Perform ISO9001 support activities, as directed.

• Must have a high school diploma.
• Minimum of two (2) years' experience performing dimensional inspection of products in a manufacturing environment using basic measuring and inspection equipment.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of manufacturing process equipment.
• Must have working knowledge of blueprint reading and be familiar with dimensional callouts in decimals, fractions, and/or metrics.
• Must have basic computer skills with working knowledge of email, data entry, spreadsheets, etc.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability and temperament to work effectively in a team-based environment.

DESIRABLE SKILLS: The following skills are considered important to this position; however, may be learned on the job. Applicants will not be eliminated from consideration if they do not possess these skills.
• Technical: Familiar with GD&T concepts.
• Prior experience using CMM or similar advanced inspection equipment.
• Prior exposure to ISO9001/TS16949 quality systems.
• Internal Quality Auditor training.
• Office Equipment: operate 10 key desk calculator; familiar with personal computers; Microsoft Office.
