Manufacturing Intern

Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) - Certified Production Technicians (CPT) needed to participate in a 12-week internship with guaranteed interviews at completion with a transmission manufacturing company. Participants will receive on-the-job training and valuable in-demand work experience manufacturers are seeking. Participants must be willing to work any shift with potential for overtime available.

Job Summary:
• Works on several manufacturing operations
• Operates a variety of numerical controlled machine tools
• Sets up and operates a variety of standard machine tools
• Performs repetitive, complex assembly work
• This position is temporary and will last for a duration up to 85 days

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
• Advanced manufacturing training in Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC)
• HireTech Training or similar program strongly preferred
• Must be able to read, interpret, and work from detailed routings, verbal, written, and computer instructions
• May be required to do heavy lifting
• Must pass a background check, drug screen and medical assessment

Essential Functions:
• Operates and maintains a wide variety of production machines
• Loads and unloads parts
• Fits, aligns and adjusts a variety of standard parts and sub-assemblies
• Uses with hand held and overhead tools such as: hoists, torque wrenches, impact guns, screw drivers, etc
• Uses a variety of general hand tools and precision measuring gages
• Responsible to sort, sanitize, straighten, sweep and sustain immediate work area
• Makes tool changes and adjustments. Performs visual checks of equipment
• Performs quick change set-ups on various types and numbers of equipment
• Performs stock handling as required
• Attends start-up and quality improvement meetings
• Supports cell rotations
• Handles parts manually or with the aid of material handling equipment
• Other duties as assigned to support overall plant operations

Experience Gained:
Operating and maintaining a wide variety of production machines, alignment and adjustments of a variety of standard parts and sub-assemblies, utilization of hand held and overhead tools including: hoists, torque wrenches, impact guns, and screw drivers, utilization of a variety of general hand tools and precision measuring gages, visual equipment checks and quick change set-ups on various equipment types, participation in quality improvement meetings and other duties as assigned supporting operations.
