The K-12 Sutdent Recruitment and Outreach Specialist is a full-time position responsible for strengthening student enrollment in various EmployIndy Youth programming in Indianapolis. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing activities focused on the recruitment of students, including but not limited to: underrepresented minority, first-generation, and low-income students. The K-12 Student Recruitment and Outreach Specialist will serve as a liaison for schools and youth-serving organizations connecting with EmployIndy programs. This position will focus on helping the Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) program, Modern Apprenticeship Program (MAP) and Indy Achieves meet enrollment goals and objectives and developing initiatives to support the recruitment of high school students.


The K-12 Student Recruiter and Outreach Specialist should also maintain knowledge on all youth program requirements including those previously listed as well as Project Indy, Job Ready Indy, and Talent Bound. In addition, this person will help coordinate resources and personnel for school fairs, speaking engagements, and other events to support the above-mentioned programs. This position will help EmployIndy achieve an improved process and organization of activities related to scheduling, preparing for, attending, collecting data from, and analyzing effectiveness of outreach events supporting youth programing.

This position will be located at EmployIndy and report to the Director of K-12 Youth.


To be successful in this role you will accomplish:
• Collaboration with multiple departments to develop an organizational procedure for outreach and recruitment
• Managing an internal "master organizational calendar"
• Recruiting students for Indy Achieves, the JAG program and MAP
• Working collaboratively with the Modern Youth Apprenticeship team on funneling students to the MAP
• Monitoring Student Success Pathway requirements for students and provide ScholarsTrack reports
• Supporting outreach efforts to middle schools and community partners to promote 21st Century Scholar applications
• Managing school partner relationships for Indy Achieves (21st Century Scholars and Mentoring Program activities), JAG and MAP purposes
• Coordination of personnel and materials for events, including executive staff speaking engagements
• Representation and attendance at school and community partner events to promote youth programs as requested
• Engaging community-based organizations to leverage partnerships that lead to youth program participation
• Logging data/information of events into program-specific systems and spreadsheets

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor or Associates Degree preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in program management, counseling, education, human services, alternative education, or related field accepted.
• One to two (2) years of relevant experience preferred.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills with particular emphasis on communicating effectively with federal grant officers, partners, service providers, vendors, and customers.
• Strong commitment to ensuring participants' success in an innovative training program which will lead to self-sufficiency and employment within a high demand career.
• Exceptional organizational skills scheduling and calendars
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Docs
• Comfort with social media and experience of social media use in a professional setting
• Ability to effectively present information with internal and external stakeholders
