The Budget Specialist position will be responsible for the development, maintenance, tracking, and monitoring of budgets within EmployIndy. This role will also be responsible for the creation and analysis of departmental budget-to-actual reports. This position will be located at the EmployIndy downtown office and report to the Controller.


To be successful in this role you will accomplish:
• Track budget to actual via EmployIndy's accounting software
• Work collaboratively with team leads to ensure that budgets are on track
• Work closely with the Associate Director of Grants and Contracts and Director of Development to create grant budgets for proposals
• Maintain monthly departmental budget reports
• Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual budget reports for each funding stream
• Manage EmployIndy's internal budget development process annually
• Complete balance sheet, bank, credit card, and travel reconciliations
• Manage all travel requests and complete travel reconciliations as needed
• Exhibit initiative and analytical skills by improving processes where applicable


Requirements
Education and Experience:
• Post-secondary credential required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum 1-2 years experience
• Fundamental knowledge of budgeting and accounting
• Experience in working with budgets preferred
• Progressive work history with increasing levels of accomplishment preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Results driven to meet the mission, vision, and goals of EmployIndy
• Knowledge of CRM, Google Suite, and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite systems
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Knowledge and experience with accounting software preferred
• Ability to analyze data and reach sound conclusions, work under time pressure, and meet deadlines
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Knowledge of fund accounting, Uniform Grant Guidance, GAAP and Internal Revenue Circulars preferred
